Gonzo – Live @ Pushin’ On (26-08-2011)

Last Friday night was Pushin’ On‘s monthly gig at BluJaz Cafe.

Except this month’s edition was graced by the presence of a very special – and very talented – guest.

All through the night, lucky party-goers were able to dance and groove to the beats of none other than Mr. Thing, from the legendary Scratch Perverts.

His incredible technical skills and his impeccable good taste in music rocked the 2nd floor, while on the 3rd floor lighter soul made for a more intimate groovy time.

Gonzo – Pushin’ On 2011 Mix Series Vol. 1 & Other News

It’s been a while since I posted anything, but fret not, that only means I was busy coming up with cool stuff to post.

I’ve just completed a mix for Pushin’ On, the first in a series of promo mixes we will be churning out on a monthly basis.

I originally wanted to feature some of the latest funky sounds I’ve discovered, but I realized that lately I’ve been mostly listening to jazzy hip-hop.

Here are some of the tunes that didn’t make the cut but that will definitely get some airplay at upcoming events:

Oh, and one last thing! If you hadn’t noticed, I now have a Twitter feed on my sidebar. That’s right, I finally had to give in and start using the damn thing. But for now it’s mostly work-related tweets, links to articles on tech, the web, etc.

And wouldn’t you know it, as soon as I get used to Twitter people start migrating to Google+…sigh…

Gonzo – The Funk Seoul Brother

As I had announced earlier I recently went to Seoul for business, and I was really excited to visit a city I’d never been to before.

I was there for four days, with a specific purpose related to business, so I barely had any time to visit. I spent most of the time going from the hotel to the office and at night I was too tired to go out and explore. Needless to say I never got to the record shops or flea markets I had hoped of seeing.

But from the little that I saw of it I really really liked Seoul: the girls were pretty, the men were classy, people in general were friendly, and the city itself reminded of a mix of various places I like.

So hopefully I’ll be able to come back and spend more time visiting and perhaps go to a couple of funk/hip hop nights.

I haven’t had time to write much lately. I’ve been going to lots of job interviews and my free time has been divided between movies, art shows, exhibitions, and concerts (Slash, Os Mutantes and Aphex Twin!!).
