Today’s a national holiday in France, most places are closed, Paris is deserted, and it’s cold outside. A perfect day to laze around at home, listen to new records, play videogames, watch movies, and compile some favorite old tunes.
Enjoy!

Here’s the live recording of the set I played last friday night at the bar l’Escale (Odéon). Even though the party was kind of improvised we got a nice turnout and people danced until 5 am.
Because people started arriving around midnight I was able to play some jazz tunes at the beginning of the set, something I don’t get to do very often since people usually arrive ready to dance. I then played some of my favorite funk songs, followed by some jazzy hip-hop. I also decided to get adventurous and play some Indian-influenced tracks, and I’m glad the sitar/bass/drum combo got people moving.
[This time around I recorded the set using my brand new laptop, and I'm not very happy with how it came out...the recording seems to have a frequency defect, as if some flanger/phaser/echo effect had been on during the whole night, which wasn't the case. I'm thinking either the cable that links the laptop to the mixer was faulty, or my recording settings are weird. Either way, I did my best to fix some of the annoying effects, but next time I'll do some more thourough testing of the recording conditions.]
Here’s yet another playlist I’ve prepared using some of my favorite hoppin’ boppin’ groovin’ hip hop tunes from yesterday and today.
Enjoy!

Here’s another live set recorded at a house party held last saturday in the 20th arrondissement of Paris.
This time around I focused more on the old rock n’ roll side of things, either with rare foreign covers or 60s surf music. Towards the end I also played some of my latest funky findings.
All in all a pretty fun party. Thanks to John, Romain, and Vincent!
Here’s yet another 8tracks playlist compiled from all the great findings I’ve done while visiting the following wonderful blogs: Ciccodelico, Flea Market Funk, Paris DJs, and too many more to list!
Hope you’ll enjoy listening to it as much as I had fun compiling it!
