Gonzo – 2nd Sonar Radio Show & Other News

Last week‘s Sonar radio show featured some of my favorite tracks in funk, jazz, hip-hop, and electronic beats.

This week’s show revolves around some of my favorite songs in oldies, latin, reggae/roots, and electronica/dubstep.

Just like last week, I kept the talking to a minimum and crammed as much music as possible.

I hope you enjoy!

Don’t forget to catch me and my Pushin’ On associates at our monthly BluJaz gig!

This edition will have a special feature, as my good friend Adrien will be joining us on visuals! I don’t have a demo of his work yet, but we’ll record his performance on Friday 30th, so I’ll post that as soon as it’s ready.

In other news, the Training Shed is getting ready for a 2nd edition of Sunday @ The Training Shed. The first edition was such a success that we’re doing it again, but better and louder!

By the way, Pushin’ On’s very own DJ Chunk and Shellsuit have just finished editing their live sets from the previous edition, so here they are!

Hope to see you there!

Gonzo – Now Available On Sonar Radio

Hear ye, hear ye!

Just a little post to let you guys know that I’m collaborating with various Singaporean artists and DJs on a very cool online radio project.

Sonar has been broadcasting for a while now, but it is now opening its airwaves to a varied group of DJs, selectors, performers and musicians (to name but a few of the ones I’m aware of: the Syndicate crew, the Pushin’ On crew, the Bedsty crew, the Electrocaine crew, the Straits Records crew, the Rawjak crew, and the Juice Magazine crew).

You’ll be able to hear my grand debut this Wednesday September 14th 2011 from 3 to 5 pm (Singapore time).

The 2-hour show you’ll hear was pre-recorded as it was technically difficult for me to broadcast live, but I’m hoping to be able to do that in the near future, as I play some sounds at Pushin’ On‘s monthly gig at BluJaz Café.

Bear in mind that I’ve never hosted a radio show and that I felt a bit weird hearing my own voice, so I kept the talking to a minimum (also, I remember that as teenager I used to record my favorite songs from the radio, waiting for the exact moment to press “record”, and I really hated when hosts spoke over songs).

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the sounds I picked, and I hope you listen to what I think is going to be a regular gig for me.

Gonzo – Live @ Pushin’ On (26-08-2011)

Last Friday night was Pushin’ On‘s monthly gig at BluJaz Cafe.

Except this month’s edition was graced by the presence of a very special – and very talented – guest.

All through the night, lucky party-goers were able to dance and groove to the beats of none other than Mr. Thing, from the legendary Scratch Perverts.

His incredible technical skills and his impeccable good taste in music rocked the 2nd floor, while on the 3rd floor lighter soul made for a more intimate groovy time.

*UPDATE*

Here’s Mr. Thing’s entire performance in excellent quality! Even better, it’s downloadable!

In other musical news this month, Pushin’ On’s Chunk prepared an excellent mix that rocked our socks off:

As if that weren’t enough music, here’s the little 8tracks playlist I prepared as a promo selection for Mr. Thing’s gig:

Enjoy all the beats!

Gonzo – Out & About For a Couple of Weeks

I’m going to be travelling around the South of France for a couple of weeks, so I probably won’t be able to post any updates.

But hopefully I’ll come back with lots of music, photos, and objects found along the way.

In the meantime here’s a little 8tracks playlist I prepared for my long flight.

I deliberately chose a lot of slower songs I’ve liked these past two weeks. Songs that for obvous reasons I couldn’t play at a live gig but that are particularly relevant to sky and cloud gazing while flying through the air.

Hope you enjoy and see you soon!
